Two weeks ago I bought Eating Animals, Jonathan Safran Foer's book on his years oscillating between omnivore and vegetarian and who’s casual questioning took an urgency on the brink of fatherhood. The research for his book required him to visit "factory farms" in the US and probe some of his most primal instincts about right and wrong.
Last night, I started to read and - way up in the night - I finished the book. Understanding the journey of Jonathan's diet (from veggie to meat and back), shocked by the literal description of the way factory farms ...

30. Ik word 30 dit jaar. Nog 5 maand te gaan. En toch. Het is begonnen. Ik ben in de war.
Er slingert een envelop rond in huis. Al zo'n tweetal weken. Een envolop met daarop "Live to Travel". Graag, eigenlijk. En dan plots: wakker worden met boekjes over AFRIKA. Zuid Afrika. Zimbabwe. Kenia. Namibië. Goeiemorgen! "Dertig dit jaar, je mag kiezen naar waar we gaan." Ik ben er al drie jaar over bezig: op m'n dertigste wil ik richting de olifanten trekken. Ik heb het getroffen met Bert!
